Abstract
A plot of ΔE/Δt 1/2 versusE as obtained from a single coulostatic decay curve resembles a classical voltammogram. Calculations by digital simulation show that for a reversible electrode reaction the coulostatic “voltammogram” is shifted to potentials slightly negative of the reversible half-wave potential. Analysis of published data for the reduction of aqueous Pb(II) at a mercury electrode shows that the results were affected by heterogeneous electron transfer kinetics.
