Abstract

The tube joint is important in application to the heat exchanger, the high pressure boiler and the large condenser of steam turbine. But there are few reliable data on the joint, and empirical data were available only concerning the necessary enlargements of the contact radii. Recently the theory of ideally plastic substance has furnished engineers with this information. But this theory cannot apply to the joint consisted of alumibrass tube and brass tube plate. Rigorous solution for the stress distribution in such joint is very difficult and we cannot practically obtain such a solution. The author introduced, therefore, an approximate solution in this case. And it was made possible to calculate the fixing force in the joint.
