Abstract
The morphological characteristics and distribution of the rare species Talismania kotlyari, known only from a few captures in the tropical Indian Ocean, have been specified. This species was recorded for the first time on the Walvis Ridge in the Southeast Atlantic. As the most probable way of penetration of the species into the Atlantic, one can assume the transfer with the rings of the Agulhas Retroflection, although its panoceanic distribution cannot be ruled out.
