Abstract
The relationships between the reflux ratio and feed-plate composition, which were found to constitute an essential point in the problems of a design-oriented approach to multicomponent conventional continuous distillation, were investigated. The mole fraction ratio of the light and heavy key components in the feed-plate composition at normal reflux is proposed to be taken equal to that at minimum reflux. The calculation method and numerical examples are shown for the above problem.
