Abstract

In this paper, we discuss the numerical simulation of electromagnetic pulse compression in a waveguiding section containing a part of an open groove waveguide. It is shown that the total loss in such waveguiding section in the millimeter wave band could be less than ohmic loss in a closed rectangular waveguide of the same length. The time profile of the input signal has been calculated allowing for the radiation and ohmic loss in the waveguide, thus ensuring that the compressed pulse is shaped as necessary. The obtained results can be applied in the microwave power compressors engineering for millimeter wave band.
