Abstract

Abstract A series of extensive current measurements was carried out in sections of the Straits of Juan de Fuca and Johnstone during 1973, whose primary objective was the definition of the net circulation around Vancouver Island. Careful use of the data collected during the survey failed to yield reliable values for such net flows; the reasons for this lack of success are investigated.
