Abstract

Some new results are presented concerning the ‘rapid’ or ‘fast’ Sdh oscillations observed in the vicinity of the field-induced spin density wave phases of (TMTSF) 2ClO 4, in large static magnetic fields to 34T. There are two series of oscillations (of equal SdH frequency) typically observed. While both are predominantly unaltered while passing into and out of the FISDW regime, one series' amplitude is significantly enhanced in magnetic fields higher than the reentrant field, ∼25T, where the FISDW is destroyed and the metal phase reappears. At the lowest temperature measured, 0.7K, this series has vanished for all fields except above reentrance. The temperature dependences of the oscillation amplitudes differ dramatically from one field regime to another, as well as from the usual SdH effect.
