Abstract

This work investigates numerically the Hermite polynomial model for the estimation of extreme values of short-term stochastic response parameters of jack-up platforms using time-domain simulations. In addition to this model, other variations of the Weibull probability distribution model fitted to the short-term time series peaks are also investigated. Before considering a jack-up model, other simple linear structural models submitted to Morison loading type are also analyzed. A simplified linear jack-up structural model is employed in this study in order to reduce the computational burden associated to the numerical time-domain stochastic simulations. The main findings of this study are:
