Abstract

A game-theoretic model is developed that analyses firms' decisions concerning innovation and imitation. It is shown that in a game of identical players an equilibrium between innovation and imitation exists. This non-cooperative equilibrium is globally stable if a sequential time structure is supposed. However, the equilibrium is not Pareto-efficient.
