Abstract

Equilibrium configurations of threefold composite dislocations that include either intrinsic-intrinsic or intrinsic-extrinsic stacking faults are calculated in the framework of isotropic elastic theory. A comparison between the theoretical predictions and the experimental observations of Lomer-Cottrell dislocations in the intermetallic alloy Ni3 Ga suggests that some of the observed configurations are not at equilibrium.
