Abstract

The theory of the entropy of mixing of the compound-forming liquid alloys on the basis of the pseudobinary mixture of hard spheres proposed recently by the present authors is applied successfully to the liquid Na-Pb alloy, for which the experimental entropy data are available across the whole composition range. It is also shown that the usual theory of the entropy of mixing based on the binary hard-sphere mixture fails to describe the behaviour of the entropy of this alloy with the composition.
