Abstract

Since the introduction of fiber optic technology to Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) sensor design, Fiber Optic SPR (FO-SPR) sensors became more practical and adaptable for in situ remote sensing compared to previous prism based SPR sensors. Due to this evolution is SPR sensors, there has been a surge in interest in further integrating and enhancing these sensors for various in situ medical diagnostics applications and Graphene has emerged as a promising candidate to facilitate the enhancement of the sensitivity and lifetime of these sensors. In this paper we show the main performance parameters of SPR sensors, propose an analysis model and discuss recent work on Graphene enhanced SPR sensors.
