Abstract

We apply our recently developed approach [Gräfe, S.; Ivanov, M.Y. Phys. Rev. Lett. 2007, 99, 163603] describing correlated two-electron dynamics in strong laser fields to the description of laser-induced recollision between an electron and its parent molecular ion. We present the derivation for an effective interaction potential which describes the effect of the laser-driven electron collision while retaining the correlation between the colliding and the bound electron. Using dissociative ionization of molecular hydrogen as an example, we analyze details of the dynamics of correlation-driven electron localization in a dissociating hydrogen molecular ion.
