Abstract

The design and performance of emission regulator circuits for ionization gauges with saturable reactors are described. The simplified circuit uses a SiC varistor in place of VR-tubes or Zener diodes. Its stability is such that a line voltage variation of 5 volts does not change the electron emission by more than one part in 500.Another circuit which has the higher loop gain shows the change by less than one part in 5000 when the change in line voltage is 5 volts. The slightly modified circuit of this type can be used for the ion source of mass spectrometer.
