Abstract

The electrical and optical properties of n -type CdTe single crystals containing In or Ga were investigated. The maximum of photoconductivity was given by the expression (1.57-4.4×10 -4 T ) ev in terms of photon energy and agreed with the energy at the absorption edge. The ionization energies of both In and Ga donors were about 0.04 ev. The Hall mobilities of conduction electrons were about 800 cm 2 /volt sec. at room temperature. The magnetoresistive effects were investigated in the range of the low magnetic field. This investigation led to the conclusion that the structure of the conduction band might be approximated by the model of four or eight energy spheroids, of which the symmetrical axes coincided with the eight [111] directions.
