Abstract

The efficiency was evaluated of the bifrequency ultrasonic (US) cavitation action on the process of the preparation of starch sizes for cotton yarns. The application of the ultrasonic energy of bifrequency cavitation provides the possibility to prepare sizes without chemical reagents for the starch splitting and to cook the sizes at a lower temperature of about 85°C. The proposed method allows one to prepare sizes without high vapor pressures, to considerably reduce the time of the size preparation, and to decrease the consumption of food stuffs (the starch by up to 30% and vegetable oil by up to 50%).
