Abstract

In this study, the effects of addition of fillers and heat treatment upon the tribological properties of polyamideimide (PAI) were evaluated.Four kinds of fillers, potassium titanate whisker (PTW), processed mineral fiber (PMF), iron phosphate (FeP2) and asbestos fiber, were used. PAI composites were molded by compression molding at 420°C and 10MPa for 50min.In order to experimentally investigate the effects of heat treatment, moldings were heat treated under condition of three steps, 1st step at 160°C for 24h, 2nd step at 245°C for 24h and 3rd step at 260°C for 24h. The wear rates of PAI composites are smaller than that of unfilled PAI. The limiting pv values of heat treated PAI injection molded is greater than that of the untreated one.
