The consequences of adopting effective transfer interactions which have the same qualitative features as for elastic and inelastic scattering are discussed. In particular, the failure of conventional caculations to reproduce the energy dependence of heavy-ion transfer cross-sections is attributed to the use of incorrect effective interactions.
