Abstract

Recently, there has been a significant amount of research in the use of split-ring resonators, and their complementary counterparts. The research interests range from sensing to filters, as well as miniaturization of antennas. Generally, the behavior of having multiple CSRRs in a reference plane is generally considered to be one distributed medium, affecting the signal continuously as it travels through the transmission line. Changing the distribution of the CSRRs will change the effect on the signal travelling through the medium. This paper presents the different propagation characteristics of the transmission line when different numbers of CSRRs are placed in the reference plane of a microstrip transmission line.
