Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find the effect of pushing force of dead center, grinding angle of tool (clearance angle, top rake angle) and radius of tool point, on the roughness of steel works machined by tungsten-carbide tools, and then to clear the relation between the roughness and the vibration. The cutting condition is as follows : cutting speed 200 m/mn feed 0.1 mm depth of cut 0.8 mm material to be cut soft steel no lubricant Then we find the following facts. 1. It is most satisfaetory when the pushing force is 23∼26 kg. Outside this range, beyond or below, the roughness and vibration increase. 2. Clearance angle 5°is most satisfaetory for the roughness and vibration. 3. Rake angle 0°∼5°is good for the roughness, but the vibration has no account for this fact. 4. The smaller the radius of tool point, the better the roughness.
