Abstract

Methods for testing rubber-to-metal bonds are discussed and national and international standards currently in force are investigated. A new method for the prediction of longterm properties of rubber-to-metal bonds under accelerated ageing is introduced. In this method, named ‘peel-creep’, normal testpieces are submitted to forced ageing under constant load. Special attention is given to the surface texture of the metal used in the experiments.
