Abstract

The effect of ordinary impurities on the Peierls-CDW transition is investigated within a normal state side approach. The 2kF-phonon frequency is calculated within the Born approximation for the electron self-energy and ladder approximation for the three-legged vertex function. The critical concentration and critical temperature of the soft-mode instability are obtained; they agree with the conditions for the suppression of the Peierls-CDW distortion. A thermal hysteresis effect is suggested for the doped quasi-1D materials.
