An analysis of the dispersion of a solute in Rivlin-Ericksen third-order fluid in a parallel plate channel is carried out. It is seen that the solute which is dispersed relative to a plane moving with the mean speed of the flow has its effective Taylor diffusion coefficient which decreases with increasing the non-Newtonian parameter $$\bar \varepsilon $$
