Abstract

This paper derives individual pension demand under uncertainty. The derived pension demand function is then estimated by positing a general functional form which includes linear and logarithmic forms as special cases. Our empirical study finds no relationship between absolute demand for pensions and wealth but lends support to the hypothesis that there is a significant positive relationship between pension demand and the income tax rate.
