Abstract

Since publicly verifiable secret sharing(PVSS) is also one of the most important techniques, Stadler has referred that one application of PVSS is the design of electronic cash systems providing recoverable anonymity. However, there is not one electronic cash scheme based on PVSS. In this paper, we propose a divisible electronic cash scheme by using the PVSS. Payments made with such a scheme are (usually) not traceable to the payer, but if the anonymity of the scheme is abused for criminal activities, the client's identity can be recovered without the help of so-called trustees or judges; for double-spending a cash will correspond to redistributing the data item with other people, the identity of dishonesty client will be revealed. This scheme also improves the efficiency by making some of the paraments used in the scheme to be reusable and removes the risk of framing by the bank by hiding the client's identity.
