Abstract

In this paper, we present a brief survey of state of the art of antennas designed in embedded wafer level ball grid array (eWLB) technology. The primary applications of the discussed antennas are radar sensors and the focus of the paper will be on frequencies from 120GHz up to 250GHz. In terms of performance, we will present two types of antennas: a) antennas with wide bandwidths in terms of radiation and return loss, and b) scalable antenna arrays with high gain and efficiency. We will discuss the design aspects of the antennas with a focus on the effects of dimensions of the eWLB package. Simulation and measurement results of each antennas will be presented and discussed.
