Abstract
An expression for the sectional curvature ofSDIFF(M) (the group of diffeomorphism preserving Riemannian density on a closed manifoldM) is obtained. In the case of a locally Euclidean manifoldM, the negativeness of curvature that implies the instability of solutions of Euler equations of ideal incompressible fluids onM is established.
