Abstract
Dana presents the chemical composition of Pele9s hair from Kilauea, as analyzed by F.J. Allen and O.D. Allen. These analyses supersede one by B. Silliman, Jr., published earlier (Dana, 1849b, p. 200). Dana also compares the new analysis with that of Triassic trap rock from Connecticut, finding close agreement.
