Abstract
Error estimates for the mixed nite element solution of 4th order elliptic problems with variable coecients, which, in the particular case of aniso-/ortho-/isotropic plate bending problems, gives a direct, simultaneous approximation to bending moment tensor eld = ( ij)1i;j2 and displacement eld 'u 0 , have been developed considering the combined eect of boundary approximation and numerical integration.
