On the classification and enumeration of self-dual codes

Abstract

This article is a survey of the current status of the classification and enumeration of self-dual linear codes of small to moderate lengths over the fields F 2 , F 3 , and F 4 and the rings Z 4 , F 2 + u F 2 , and F 2 + v F 2 . Self-duality is considered using a variety of inner products. We also examine formally self-dual binary codes and additive self-dual codes over F 4 .
