Abstract

AbstractChiral media is characterized by a particular handedness and subsequent coupling between electric and magnetic fields as evidenced by the constitutive equations. Wave propagation in stratified chiral media is examined through an initial‐value approach which yields a matrix Riccati equation for the local reflection coefficient, valid for arbitrary angle of incidence. The first reported solution for reflection from an inhomogeneous chiral transition layer is given here.
