Abstract
The aim of this article is to find, in the simplest possible way, the change undergone by the expression of a formula in electromagnetism when basic conventions for the system of units are changed. The bases used here are the equations of Maxwell and of Lorentz which can be introduced under different types. The opportunity is taken to study the structure of the system of basic equations and the terms which remain invariant under certain transformations. A very unified and very general presentation of basic formulae is given because the presentation takes on different forms only for rationalised systems and for those which are not.
