Abstract
This chapter introduces the topic and content of the book. The authors start by presenting and problematising the figure of the observerd—representing the different facets of the observer-observed. They then justify the need for a book dedicated to observing INTERCULTURALITY, a complex scientific and educational phenomenon that has not been discussed in depth in the different fields related to the notion. Based on a literature review of the few references available on the topic, the authors identify gaps in knowledge that urge them to adopt a very special method consisting of observality (observation as a multifaceted process), interculturality-as-altering and mirroring (looking at self in the other, self in self, etc.). The end of the chapter presents the following chapters and discusses the ways the book could be used.
