Abstract
Abstract The short essay ‘On the brevity of writing’ explores the way in which a women writer approaches the short story writing process. It examines the brevity and the condensation of the genre as a concentration of forces on a page. It also focuses on the construction of atmosphere and the importance of endings as key elements of the genre.
