Abstract
The continuous X-ray spectrum generated by the bombardment of a thick target of aluminium by 450 keV protons has been determined in the photon energy range 2.5-8.5 keV. Comparison with theory shows that the contribution from stopping electrons is considerable below 5 keV, and that electrons additional to the 1s electrons make a significant contribution.
