Abstract

The Born approximation to the scattering amplitude is discussed for the potential scattering problem with many channels and arbitrary spins. This is done for the full amplitude in both the representation in which magnetic quantum numbers are diagonal and in the helicity representation, and for the partial wave amplitude in the helicity representation. Spin-orbit interactions are also treated. A discussion of the asymptotic behavior for large momentum transfer is given, on the basis of which it is conjectured that for a specified class of potentials the Regge poles will retreat to the left-hand J-plane for high energies.
