Abstract
Binding-energy shifts of core levels, valence bands and Auger spectra of the molecular metal cluster compounds Cu 146Se 73(PPh 3) 30 and Au 55(P( 6H 4OCH 3) 3) 12Cl 6 are interpreted in terms of a final-state relaxation, involving a Coulomb charge on the surface of the clusters and a polarization of the surrounding.
