His Victorian Poets and the Changing Bible (University of Virginia Press, 2011) concerns the importance of modern biblical criticism to the shape of nineteenth-century poetics and poetic theory. Presently, he is writing on nineteenth-century secularization, and on the sacralization of Shakespeare in the Victorian era.
