Abstract
Processes of transformation of two particles into three or four particles in the high energy region are examined in the pole approximation. In the energy range in which the total elastic scattering cross section is independent of energy, the cross section for transformation of two particles into three does not decrease with increasing energy. The cross section for transformation of two particles into four exhibits a logarithmic growth with the energy. This result leads to the assumption that at very high energies the elastic scattering cross section tends to zero.
