Abstract

Abstract The Arakawa-Schubert (1974) convective parameterization scheme is applied to a quasi-geostrophic CISK model with continuous vertical resolution. Considering only the effects of non-entraining clouds and assuming that the top of the mixed layer remains saturated at constant temperature, it is found that the quasi-equilibrium assumption allows no growth of disturbances.
