Abstract

Abstract The effects of high pressure on a quantum system may be described by introducing an external wall potential which represents the interaction with neighbouring atoms and molecules. Here we present a generalisation of the Hull and Julius1 boundary perturbation method of solving the Schrodinger equation for an enclosed system. For the one-dimensional case our method gives the exact solution. The method may be also applied to any separable multidimensional Schrodinger equation. Applications to the simple systems: H2 +, and He, are discussed.
