Abstract

The proton bifurcation for T > 120 K in the crystal is considered as the origin of a phonon mixture. As a result, a supplementary term describing phonon fluctuations appears in the crystal Hamiltonian. This fluctuation correction forms the basis of a light absorption mechanism for mixed vibrational modes. An anomalous temperature behaviour of two modes that was previously found experimentally is explained in the framework of the present model.
