Abstract
For the first time, an accurate quantitative analysis is carried out to characterize dispersion (which is found to be anomalous) in the self-absorption region of a heterostructure semiconductor laser. In fact, calculations relative to refractive index, intermode distance, and resonator length are performed to clarify several questions which, unfortunately, are still poorly understood.
