Abstract

The paper is focused on the analysis of deterioration of strength properties during cyclic deformation of the titanium alloy VT6, which is widely used in numerous engineering applications. A set of experimental data is obtained, regarding stress-controlled cyclic loadings with variable R-values; the influence of the mean stress on the irreversible processes is estimated. The impact of a previous loading history on ratcheting and dissipation-induced heating is clarified. The use of the obtained experimental data for creation and calibration of constitutive models is discussed.
