Abstract

The actions of colchicine and colcemid on the cells of a colchicine-resistant substrain of the Ehrlich-Lettre mouse ascites tumour are compared with the actions of these substances on the cells of the normal Ehrlich-Lettre MAT stock, from which the resistant line was derived. It has been shown that the resistance of the cells of the resistant substrain to colchicine is due to an immediate inactivation of this compound by these cells. On the contrary, the inactivation of colcemid by these cells is not as rapid as for colchicine but is achieved within 4 hours.
