Abstract
AMANDA MARKALL is bringing 30 years of NHS experience, much of it working as a nurse, to her new role ensuring that more patients receive their care more swiftly. She is the new interim planned-care specialist at the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham, where she has been brought in to help the trust reach its cancer and 18-week referral-to-treatment-time targets. The trust has missed the latter target since January this year and has also been failing to achieve the 62-day and two-week waiting-time targets concerning cancer.
