Abstract

Nowadays, hybrid marine electric power systems containing different types of energy sources or/and energy storages are developing rapidly. That is why it is important to look into the matter of synchronization and distribution of active and reactive load between a conventional synchronous generator (alternating voltage source) and a direct voltage source connected to the ship electric power system via voltage source inverter. These two energy sources have significantly different static and dynamic properties due to the differences in physical nature of voltage and output power control in conventional diesel-synchronous generator and semiconductor power converter. The article focuses on different approaches to the control system synthesis, which allow to provide stable parallel operation of the synchronous generator and the voltage source inverter. MatLab/Simulink model of the simplest algorithm of synchronization and power distribution based on voltage source inverter, synchronous generator and load current and voltage measurements is proposed and investigated in this paper.
