Abstract

An Abelian symmetry extension of the Standard Model and its possible implication for the neutrino sector is considered. The symmetry breaking by a new scalar vacuum expectation value is described and the resulting suppressed neutrino mass terms are determined. From the known data, the strengths of the corresponding suppressing effect are derived and the associated new scales are approached.
