Abstract
The Lumer-Phillips theorem on contractiom semigroups is used in this paper to obtain a physically sound set of restrictions-symmetry and monotonicity-on the relaxation function of a linear anisotropic inhomogeneous viscoelastic material of the Boltzmann type.
