Abstract

Cryoscopic and conductimetric measurements on solutions of 2:4 dinitrobenzene sulfenyl chloride in 100% H2SO4 and dilute oleum are found to be more consistent with simple protonation of the sulfenyl chloride rather than with sulfenium ion formation as previously reported by Kharasch and co-workers (1) in99%H2SO4.
